Terms of Service
Last updated 21 September 2026 · By using Future Me Says you agree to these terms.
Future Me Says is operated under the registered Australian business name Smiling Quokka (ABN 72 680 153 860). These terms govern your use of the service.
What Future Me Says is
Future Me Says is an AI letter-writing service. It writes you letters and short notes in the voice of the person you might be a year from now. It is not a human, and not therapy, counselling, medical, or crisis care. Nothing it writes is professional advice, and it cannot help in an emergency. If you are struggling, please reach a qualified professional or the crisis resources.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older to use Future Me Says.
The launch Sea and playful tests
Incoming bottles are curated editorial prompts. Releasing a bottle and writing a reply are private reflection activities; they do not deliver messages to another user, and we do not promise a reply from a stranger. Letter-voice and other reflection games express preferences, not validated personality assessments. The separately labelled IPIP Big Five questionnaire uses 50 public-domain items and their published scoring key; its explanatory text is written for this app, without population rankings. None of these activities offers a diagnosis or medical advice. Generated and editorial letters imagine possible futures; they do not predict outcomes.
Your content
What you write stays yours. You give us permission to store it and use it to generate your letters and reflections, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can export or delete everything at any time from Settings.
Cost
Your local journal, discovery games, personality questionnaire, private bottles and existing archive remain available for free. An active Future Me Says Membership is required for every personal AI letter, including the first letter, scheduled weekly letters and monthly reflections, as well as designed PDF keepsakes and the growing future picture. We do not substitute prewritten weekly letters. Generation limits apply; membership is not unlimited chat. Non-members may see a weekly membership reminder and an offer when choosing paid features; closing it does not block free activities. The App Store offers monthly and annual auto-renewable plans with the same benefits. Apple shows the current local price and billing period before you confirm. Basic data export in Settings, privacy controls, crisis resources and account deletion never require payment.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple under your App Store account and renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel in your App Store account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Use Restore Membership in the app if an active subscription is not recognised. Refund eligibility and processing are governed by Apple and applicable consumer law.
Cancellation
You can stop using Future Me Says at any time, disable local reminders in your device notification settings, and permanently delete your authentication account and related data from Settings. In v1, letters arrive inside the app; email is only used for requested sign-in links. Deleting your Future Me Says account does not cancel an App Store subscription; manage that separately in your App Store account settings.
Limits
Future Me Says is provided “as is.” We do our best to keep it warm, safe, and available, but we cannot guarantee it will always be accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we are not liable for decisions you make based on a letter. It is a companion for reflection, not a source of professional guidance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian consumer law.
